Delhi to Manali on a Royal Enfield
Are you planning a bike ride to Manali on a Royal Enfield or any other bike. If yes, you are at the right place. In today’s article, we would discuss the itinary that I followed along with the places of interest in and around Manali, both for a solo rider as well as people who have chosen Manali as their Honeymoon destination.
Manali is one of the famous hill stations located in the Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh. It is around 600 kilometers from New Delhi. I decided to go to Manali on a 3 day trip. It was a lovely morning and I decided to go to Manali. I left my place at around 06:00 AM in the morning. The route I decided to follow was Delhi-Ambala-Roopnagar-Kiratpur-Bilaspur-Sundernagar-Mandi-Kullu-Manali. With target of reaching Manali the same day, I took my first pits stop at Neelkanth Dhaba and got an attractive discount being a rider. I refueled at the nearby Fuel station and moved on.
I took my second pit stop at Roopnagar. This place is beautiful. One would have to take a diversion from the main highway and move towards the Kiratpur highway. The road from Roopnagar to Kiratpur and then to Bilaspur is filled with potholes, one should ride carefully on these roads. I reached Mandi at around 03:30 PM. With another 123 kilometers to cover for the day, I rushed towards Manali. It was raining cats and dogs at some places, however with the rain covers on, I decided not to stop and finally managed to reach Manali at around 06:40 PM.
I had already made reservation at Retreat Cottage, Manali. The place was just awesome, the views from outside my window were just awesome. I would certainly recommend this place for all the people. You can easily get a room here for around 3500 to 4000 INR per night.
I slept after eating my dinner as I was dead tired after the ride. The next morning I woke up early and went to explore Manali.
Here are some places of interest while in Manali:
Solang Valley is around 15 kilometers from Manali and is one of the favorite destinations after the Rohtang pass. It is easily accessible by road. One can do a lot of adventure activities here like Paragliding, Horse riding etc. In the winter as I heard from the local people, one can also enjoy the snow scooter ride.
Rohtang Pass is one of the favorite destinations for all the tourists coming to Manali. It is around 50 kilometers away from the Manali city. You need to make sure that your vehicle is not 10 years old. As the entry of old vehicles is prohibited at Rohtang Pass. If you are going on as a couple, you should plan early morning and then enjoy the weather and nature.
Hidimba Devi Temple
This temple is surrounded by thick jungles of Cedar and is a temple dedicated to Devi Hidimba, wife of Bhim (one of the Pandavas of Mahabharat). One can trek through the jungle and finally reach the temple. One would enjoy the scenic beauty of the place and would be mesmerized by it.
One can also do shopping at the Mall road in Manali. After visiting all these places. I reached by Hotel and slept.
The next day, I started early and after two pit stops for refueling the bike as well as me, I reached Delhi.
